Ten Myths About Abortion
Myth #1: Most abortions happen because of rape, incest, maternal health or birth defects
Fact: 97% of abortions are performed for social or economic reasons. Only 3% are due to rape or incest, maternal health or birth defects.

Myth #2: Access to abortion helps racial minorities
Fact: Abortion targets minority communities. If 28% of black babies are aborted while only 10% of white babes are aborted, the minority population is shrinking.

Myth #3: The fetus is just a clump of cells that are part of the mother’s body.

Fact: Contraceptive increases the rate of promiscuity giving the false security of safe sex without risk of pregnancy. Increased unintended pregnancies increase abortion.

Fact: A woman whose life is in danger may need a medical procedure that kills her baby as a side effect. But doctors agree that direct abortion is never necessary to save a woman’s life.
